What are Spiritual Gifts?
January 25, 2021

Click on the Youth Spiritual Gifts Inventory below to display a multi-page PDF spiritual gifts inventory for young people. The inventory itself uses the language of "test," but I don't like that term. This is not a test to pass, but a way of seeking to take inventory of the gifting of the Holy Spirit within us. Furthermore, this inventory is not meant to be a final word about your spiritual gifts but rather a starting place for gifts discovery. So, I invite you to take the inventory and then explore the various

How Can I be Filled with the Holy Spirit?
What are Spiritual Gifts?
January 18, 2021

Discussion Guide: How can I be filled with the holy spirit?
Preview of Next Week: We'll take a break from the Alpha Youth videos next week in order to begin exploring our spiritual gifts. In addition, we'll start preparing a teaching video for some of our synod confirmands on the topic of "Prayer - Listening to the Holy Spirit."
Veni Sancte Spiritus (latin for "Come, Holy Spirit")
The full translation of the song follows:

Come, Holy Spirit, from heaven shine forth with your glorious light.
Veni Sancte Spiritus.
Come, Father of the poor, come, generous Spirit, come, light of our hearts.
Veni Sancte Spiritus.
Come from the four winds, O Spirit, come breath of God; disperse the shadows over us, renew and strengthen your people.
Veni Sancte Spiritus.

Most kindly warming light! Enter the inmost depths of our hearts, for we are faithful to you. Without your presence we have nothing worthy, nothing pure.
Veni Sancte Spiritus.
You are only comforter, Peace of the soul.
In the heat you shade us; in our labor you refresh us, and in trouble you are our strength.
Veni Sancte Spiritus.
On all who put their trust in you and receive you in faith, shower all your gifts. Grant that they may grow in you and persevere to the end. Give them lasting joy!
Veni Sancte Spiritus.

Confirmation Class: Why and How Do I Read the Bible?
January 4, 2021

Discussion Guide: Why and How Do I Read the Bible?
Practical Tips for Reading Your Bible:
  1. Get a Bible (Option: "YouVersion" app on your phone).
  2. Find a time and place that works for you.
  3. Read it one book at a time. Don't flick and point.
  4. Genre (e.g., history, poetry, etc.) matters.
  5. Ask lots of questions: Who was it written to? What was happening in their world? What does it man for us today? What does it tell us about God?
  6. Pray.
  7. Talk to people. Listen to the Bible in connection with others in the body of Christ.

Confirmation Class: Creation: Everything is Spiritual
October 12, 2020

As Pastor Steve continues away on vacation, we won't be meeting in-person today. Instead, take time to view this "Everything Is Spiritual" video by Pastor Rob Bell.
This week's video is probably beyond full comprehension for most of us, but Pastor Bell does an amazing job of inviting us into pondering the wonder of God's creation from the ancient perspective of Genesis 1 as well as our modern scientific observations.

There will be no quizzes on this video; rather, allow yourself to be amazed at the incredible creation in which we live and the awesome Creator who continues to create.
Home/Small Group Huddles
Preview of Next Week: Pastor Steve will be back as our faith ancestors invite us to be amazed at God, the Creator. Don't forget to get your pictures from last week to Pastor Steve so that he can have those ready for next week's class. Blessings!

Confirmation Class: Service Project In God's Creation
October 5, 2020

Small groups also have the option of not meeting in-person for this, but rather working independently on the creation project. Please check with your small group guide, if you are uncertain of what your small group is planning.
